when i installed linux sound did not work wiht my soundcard so i bought soundblaster live and have two sound cards. well i rank harddrake and got the sound working but i recently logged on as the root with kde, i usually use gnome, and the sound stopped working. i run harddrake and it works again but next time i reboot the sound no longer works and i have to run harddrake again. I try to run xmms mp3 player on login and get the message there is something wrong with the sound card and i knwo i have to run hard drake. On another install of mandrake 8.1 on another hard drive i installed star office and the windows mangager crashed when it went to update the kde start menu it said and then the sound stopped working in that install. I had to delete that system. whats up with sound in mandrake linux. I would think if you have sound working for 2 hours while logged in next time you reboot why would the sound not be working. thanks mike adams
