I've never had any trouble with any sound card. I usually end up using onboard sound from a SIS motherboard, and the installation program sets it up without a hitch.

I though about upgrading my main and put in my old sb live 5.1, but aren't the drivers still a little flaky for XP. I was thinking about some cheap creative card like a 128 or 64. Just not sure if anyone has used one before.
On-board sound and video is always a bad idea. So is having any ISA cards in a modern system. Linux and XP will work with the on-board sound I have but it slows the system down in areas I would not to see slowed down. Besides it crashes when I use my ATI TV card. So i'm using an Aureal 8830 (vortex 2) card and I don't want to have to recompile the kernel to get the driver to work on Linux and I didn't know when Microsoft was comming up with the new drivers they say there gonna make.
Thankx guys for your time I'll keep checking back hopeing someone will have a solid answer.
