Yes, I mentioned to you that I had seen it still on the SuSE FTP site. I cam accrosss it while looking for something else.

You can go here: ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/8.0/suse/ and browse through each subdirectory (yes is a PITA but if you need that software...)

If it is not there now, they might have removed it due to licensing issues.(when I cam accross it was a few months back) Star Office is the licensed version of Open Office from Sun. I had Star Office on 8.0 Pro but when I went to 8.2 I noticed they do not include it anymore.

It is no longer there, you might want to look here also and hope for the best: http://rpmfind.net/linux/RPM/

Good luck...

Why do you still want Star Office 5.2? OpenOffice.org 1.0 and probably also 1.1 take up less hard drive space, use less RAM when they run, and have more responsive interfaces, all while having more features.

Didn't we tell him about OpenOffice in his original post??? But somehow, he just said that it, OpenOffice, didn't run but wouldn't bother to say why or how???

Well, I couldn't find StarOffice 5.2 but I did find StarOffice 6.0 for Linux!!! So, if you want a copy of it, e-mail me and we can discuss this further...

The results of my comparison from the last time this SO 5.2 debate came up:

I just tested StarOffice (SO) 5.2 vs. OpenOffice.org (OO) 1.1. I have an Athlon XP 2100+ with 512Mb of PC2700 RAM.

I did a minimum installation of SO 5.2, and OO 1.1 was installed with the Gentoo binary ebuild (no architecture-specific optimizations). Below is the disk usage:
SO 5.2 - 191Mb
OO 1.1 - 183Mb

I opened Writer in OO and a text document in SO. Below is the memory usage:
SO 5.2 - 55.9Mb
OO 1.1 - 41.8Mb

OpenOffice.org, while actually taking longer to load, "felt" significantly faster. I didn't have time to do a feature comparison, but the "standard" SO 5.2 installation weighed in at 248Mb, and I'm reasonably sure OO 1.1 at 183Mb has more features.

Yes Taurus, we did tell him that on his original post.
That is where I originally mentioned that I knew that SuSE 8.0 had it as part of their Pro version (I had installed it since it first came out) and that I had come accrossed it as still on the SuSE FTP site.

I went today to look for it also,(after his second post) and I could not find it on the FTP site. Maybe removed due to a license issue, or maybe a result of Sun Microsystems no longer supports that version..... who knows.

And yes, I also agree, OOo runs much faster and is much less bloat/bulk, and with more features.

Regards...
