I have fedora 6 installed in my comp., i want to install some additional packages from Fedora DVD from which i installed the OS., but yum always runs to web location. I want to know is any way to configure the source location to DVD drive for installation the packages

I do not have internet connection, therefore and moreover since i have omitted some packages which r in DVD already during OS installation, and now I want to install it, so what is the need to download from net

"what is the need to download from net"
Almost all Linux distros have some sort of online software repository that you can connect to & download the most current updates. The files are constantly updated so that the most recent versions are always available. Fedora 6 is almost 3 yrs old so any packages on the DVD are obviously not up to date.

The simple answer is to double click on the rpm's on the disk.
"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, antivirus, anti-spyware, Live CD's, backups, are in my top 10

Ok, if double clicking rpm works, it will be good, i will try it.
Q: "what is the need to download from net"
MyView : Since i have dvd from which i installed OS, but some of packages i omitted at that time, and later i realized those are required, so why i go to net when i can do from local dvd. Important to that u can say u will get latest version, but the way packages are revising and requiring new dependencies we will engage most of time in updating only, when we will do our original work for which we r using computer ?- atul

Updates are not automatic in most Linux distributions. I get an icon in my system tray when updated packages become available.
I choose when to install the updates. If I am not busy, I usually install them immediately. If I am busy, I can perform the installation at a more convenient time. In my experience, keeping my system updated rewards me with greater stability, security and performance.
