Slow connection speed with Suse

I have a problem with my internet speed when I use Suse 9.1. I have a cable connection, but with Suse it's as slow as dial-up.
It seems that the name resolution is taking a really long time. I have WinXP on the same box, and connection speeds are nice and zippy when I use it (with Firefox as the browser). I also have Fedora and Mandrake installed on other boxes and they don't give me a problem either. I should mention that Mandrake or Fedora installed on this box doesn't cause problems. In short, I've determined that it's the OS, not the hardware.
I've tried using dhcp to get the dns server addresses and I've also used static, plugging in the dns server addresses manually. Either way my connection is sllllloooooowwww.
