The XFree86-4.0.3-5 package in RH 7.1 comes with XF86_SVGA 3.3.6a and that is sufficient. With the older server I could only get 800x600 but with this I am well into 1024x768. One just needs to force X to recognize the card. The page above explains that well.
BTW, while I have had a degree of success in running this card using VESA, I am not satisfied. Can you please explain how you were using it? As I may not be able to search for this post again, can you please also mail me directly?
