Right, im completely new as a Linux user - in fact i only installed it today. I think it's a Mandrake release. The problem is, i cannot get my SIS 6326 PCI graphics card working - when I try to start X (whatever that means!) i get a whole load of errors. Anyone got any ideas about issues with this card? Another thing, how can I read the contents of a readme file (or any file) when at the command line interface?
ThanksAlex

I also have Windows Me on another partition - is there any way I can use Lnx4Win for with Windows Me, as WinMe has no DOS support, and no config.sys for the boot menu.
Thanks (again)
Al

I've installed Mandrake 8 on a computer with a SIS 6326 AGP, and I had no troubles. Try running Xconfigurator and making very sure that the monitor's refresh rate is not too high. Good Luck.

I also have a PCI version of the SIS 6326. Unfortunately, both XF86Setup and anXious mis-detect the card (it looks like it is detected as the AGP version of the card). Thanks to a co-worker who used XF86Config (command line config utility) to configure X, he was able to get the SVGA server working. Just be careful of which video card you select. It was #628 in the list for him, however, this is from a Debian 2.2_rev5 installation CD, and I don't know to which version of X this corresponds. Good luck!
