Comment:

I installed Caldera OpenLinux Workstation 3.1 on my machine which also has 2 hard disks (one 40 GB and the other 20 GB). The 20 GB HDD is for linux while the 40 GB one is for win98.
1. WHile everything else goes off well, after installation, the system locks up totally. Everything freezes. Figuring that this could be a display card problem (too much acceleration), I tried to change the settings of the monitor and the adapter through the K display configuration utility. But to no avail. Forcing a reboot damaged the file system so that I had to ultimately remove the linux installation.
2. The system has an Ess Solo 1 pci audio drive.Windows also reports a Yamaha OPL3-SAx WDM driver. While sound works fine in Win 98, it doesn't work well with Caldera OL. THe sound appears to come as if from a distance and is extremely muted. The CD player displays a message "No matching CDDB entry found". It does play audio CDs but the sound is nowhere near what it can be in terms of volume and clarity
Please help
Pramathesh
