Hi, I recently installed Suse Linux 9.1 Pro. When I installed it, I had to select "Safe Install" otherwise it would restart when the kernel loaded. But the problem occurs when I try to shut down. The Suse logo etc appears and the bar moves across the screen until it has only a fraction left, where it just hangs. I have to manually shut the computer down by pressing the button on the case. Any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks

I don't have SuSE but I do have the "silent" shutdown/startup thing (background picture with progress bar) and if you press F2 it will show the text of what it's doing, so try F2 and you will be able to see what exactly it's trying to do when it hangs.
Bill Gates has performed 1024 illegal operations.
I hope he's sorry for the inconvenience.

In my suse install, the bar will go all the way across the screen, then when it's a fraction away from finished, i hear two quick beeps, and then it goes off. Maybe check your BIOS to see how its configured to do power button and boot stuff?
