I realy want to format all my drives and remove any microsoft and windows related program, but should i do it???
I heard that installing Linux could be a pain in the back because of the drivers.
Today Im using a self buildt computer: AMD K6-2 500MHz 3D Now, Apollo MVP4 motherboard, 128 Mb Ram, 3D Banshee 16Mb, Creative Player 1024, Real Magic DVD and MPEG2 card, Dynalink TAS106H-W ISDN card, CD-RW, 2 HDD.
What could cause a problem for me? I have the Red Hat 6,2 OS on cd here and are waiting for YOUR respons.
I have tried Win 2000, but had problems with the hardware.
What should i replace to make it work???

hi;

If you have 2 HDs, you can still have Windows
on the first(master) drive and Linux on the
2nd(slave) drive. And dualboot them with either LILO or NT's bootloader. As your hardware, read the Linux hardware database on the net or on redhat. You can start from the link on the left of this page, and try www.linuxdoc.org/HOWTO. Hardware drivers are included in your Linux. Test it now to see.

good luck

I have 10 computers and can not get linux to run on any of them so I wish I had not wasted my time or money on it.

10 comps and no successful installs? What kind of computers?What distro did you use and what happened? For good info try linuxnewbie.org. Learning a new OS takes work, but its worth it.

I have had seven computers in recent memory and had no trouble installing Slackware (3.1, 3.5 and 7) on any of them except my laptop because I just haven't bothered doing it. There are two reasons I wouldn't clean off ALL Microsoft: Everquest and everyone else I know uses Microsoft (so dual boot)... and one reason not to put on Linux at all: not enough hard drive space. I have only a 4 Gb Hard drive on my laptop and I need Windows to run on it along with Visual Studio and Office. Not to mention the ridiculous amount of shareware stuff I have on it. Just no room.

Linux rules. You should at least try it.
