Hi - you should be able to read all of your XP partitions from linux (google mount ntfs) an easy way to share files between the two is to create a FAT32 partition and both OS's will be able to read and write to it.

I believe you can get a program to allow xp to access ext3 partitions but i have never tried....

Suse is able to read all your windows partitions, but is unable to write to them. Windows cannot read your suse partitions.
To get round this problem set up a new partition as vfat32, set read/write atributes in both systems and you can now share data in either direction.

You should be able to download, with yast I think, ntfs-3g it may have other dependencies in suse. I think yast should be able to manage that though.

Then you must create an entry for windows in the file /etc/fstab

use some text editor probably kwrite or kate

#kwrite /etc/fstab

add a line like
/dev/hdxx /media/windows ntfs-3g defaults,locale=en_US.utf8 0 0

and then save the file

where /dev/hdxx is the partition that windows resides on use more entries if there are more win partitions.

/media/windows is the mount point for the partition, you must have this.

#mkdir /media/windows then you must explore through this mount point.

you may have to force suse to mount those partitions... not so aure about suse 10.1 as it is not current. Check this and use google.

Please do not jump in and use this info right away. It is just a guideline and might not work for you.

Typing ntfs-3g and suse in google provides a lot of results

You know what sucks.
Is when people answer posts
with assumptions.
