bushjohn15,

I am not a wine user, so when I saw your inquiry last evening (eastern time zone - USA here) I did not post a reply as I had nothing useful for you. Now I see the above post which contains a most useful link as a starting point for you to learn how to set up your wine installation.

The reason for my reply now is the manner in which the above reply was delivered. When I was new to Linux, many knowledgeable users took the time to help me learn the parts of my new OS with which I was having trouble. Far too many of them used the method above and it angered me to no end. They not only provided little more than a link, but they did so with a rude statement that I should Read The F***ing Manual (and they yelled it at me -Caps indicate a loud or angry tone)!

Such an attitude directed to new Linux users provided the basis for the Linux communities 'elitist' reputation (true or not).

The above post would have been more effective written as:

Start here: <a href="http://www.winehq.org/</b>" target="_blank">http://www.winehq.org/

I do not wish to insult itguru, and if my comments have done so, I apologize. My true intent here is to let you (bushjohn15) know that such an attitude is not the norm in the Linux community and to perhaps help itguru see how what he posts is interpreted as I am sure that neither rudeness nor shouting at you were intended.

We assume you used DSL's Mydsl repo to install wine.

Here is a good starting place.

"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, antivirus, anti-spyware, Live CD's, backups, are in my top 10
