I'm attempting to setup a simple closed off network in a school environment for a web mastering class.

I'd like the workstations (about 4) to login based on a master file on the Server (A domain controller, essentially). Essentially, have the student usernames/passwords on the central LAMP, and the workstations log in through that.

The problem is, I don't know how to set that up. Are there any tutorials available out there for setting up a login server? I did a quick search but couldn't find anything.

Also, on a semi related note, are there any distros out there that install to a straight LAMP?

Thanks for the help, y'all.

sounds like youd need ldap for that?

Nothing's broken until you choose not to fix it.
