Help please!
Just bought a new IBM 80Gb disk. Trying to fdisk it but it doest not work. fdisk reports "cant read /dev/hdf".
sfdisk reports cant read sector 0. the disk works in another computer therefore I think the kernel has misunderstood the disk.
What options do I have? Please help

Hi,
Determine which drive is master. Usually your bigger disk must be primary master.

If it is an ide disk, it will be either hda, hdb, hdc or hdd, depending on whether it is

primary master
primary slave
secondary master
secondary slave

Where did you get hdf from? It wouldn't appear as F: under windows would it? Linux and Windows driver names are completely different. (The Linux ones make more sense)
