I am trying to do a simple project. I have created and configured a DNS server. On a second machine I want to create a sendmail server. I also have a few users on the same network. I chose to put the services on different machines, so that I can use a packet sniffer to analyze data packets and their transmission. I can ping all the computers, and get the right answers when I do nslookup, host and dig on all machines. However, I do not know much about sendmail. Can someone give me an overview of the steps involved to do such a task? One question in particular: do I have to configure sendmail on clients as well as the server?
