segmentation fault

i compiled my c program and
when iam trying to run a.out file it is saying "segmentation fault". iam not able to see the out put of my program.
what is this? pls tell me what to do to run my programs.

Does a simple hello world run? Btw, the file "a.out" is actually an elf executable (on most recent systems). Its named a.out for historic reasons.

yes simple hello world is running .
this came when i tried to run a big program (using files ).
