Comment:

Hello,

I have RedHat 7.3 installed on a Dell laptop. The problem is that my screen resolution is 'stucked' on 1280X1024.
I ran Xconfigurator and made sure I have also other resolutions.
I edited the /etc/X11/xf86config file and commented out the 1280X1024 modes, but when I restart it is always go back to 1280X1024
I am almost blind by now. please help me before it is too late.

Adi

Hi
Check if you need to edit the other XF86Config-file to... end with -4 if I remember correctly...

are you referring to /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 ?

if so, do you have a line like

Modes "1280x1024" "1152x864" "800x600" "640x400"

in the Section "Screen"?

have you examined /var/log/XFree86.0.log?
