Linux support SATA Hard Drives, it is actually the Controller Chip which is not.

You need to find the drivers for the Controller Chip, could you tell us the manufactuer/model of the Controller ??

If you want to stay with a RedHat distribution RedHat 4.0 and 5.0 have better SATA support. CentOS is free. CentOS is compiled from the RedHat source code and 100 percent binary compatible with RedHat Enterprise Linux. CentOS is free. I suggest you try CentOS 4.0, or better yet CentOS 5.0
