OS: Samba
CPU/Ram: XXXXX
Product: Adaptec
Comment:

Adaptec Snap Server 2200. All of the settings are identical to another that is functioning properly.
If you try to map to the drive by IP address, it gives an error with "the specified network name is no longer avail."
Upon reboot of the device, the server log shows the error "SMB : Can't resolve master browser IP address for domain XXXX." Every 10 min it throws the same error in the log. when you try to connect to it by IP it gives the error "SMB : computername not connected to domain controller. " when the computername is connected to DC.
None of the other snap appliances are showing this, and the settings for the network are all identical. I can connect to the drive through the webbrowser by ip, but not by name.
Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

If it has a static IP you may be able to do a quick fix by adding an entry to /etc/hosts....

I haven't played around with one of those snap servers....do you need to join it to the windoze domain or something?

adding the entry to the /etc/hosts file will let you connect to the web interface by the name instead of the ip.
The drive will not show up on the domain. If I set it to work as a workgroup, the workgroup will show up on the network. Is this a windows problem?

Sounds like it could be a windoze problem, how do you go about joining the drive to the domain...through a web interface? When joining non-windoze machines to a domain, I have sometimes found it better to create the machine account on the domain controller first and then join the domain.
