Comment:

I have set up samba to access a shared directory. I can access the share folder.
Set to nobody. Cannot create new folder or write to exixting folder. Get message "Unable to create folder "xxxxx" access is denied." Tried everything I can find. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I had the same problem, worked out it was SELinux
so configure it to allow samba or turn SELinux off ... if its just a small home server, you probably dont need it anyways

check the actual file permissions and the /etc/smb.conf file for appropriate permissions;

i.e;

ls -l
____________

wiretable = yes

Examine the linux permissions on the actual files/directories being created. I've had to add lines to my smb.conf like:
create mask = 0664
directory mask = 0775
