I have two PC’s with linux mandrake 8.1 and 8.2 on them. One is set up as a server and firewall with IP Masq for my dialup (ppp0). Right now to get online I have to ssh or telnet into the server and start the ppp-on script. I would like to be able to start this script from the workstation.

I know there is diald, but I don't want dial-on-demand. I like to be able to disconnect when I want to, not when it times out. (only one phone line) Is there any way to get a launcher icon to execute this script on the server?

One other thing, I have also been running an instance of Gkrellm on the server, in the workstation's x. I.e. I ssh into the server and then run Gkrellm. It gives me all the server information but I can set it on the workstation's desktop. Is there any way to start a program via a remote x session or something like this so I don't have to ssh into the server each time?

Thank you for any help you can provide.

Philip
