rsh/rhosts problem.

I am using RH linux 8.0 server on a x86 machine. I want to be able to connect to it via rsh. I am able to connect to it, but I dont understand how. Details below:
1. I dont have a .rhosts file in my home folder. 2. I dont have a hosts.equiv file in /etc folder 3. I modified pam_rhosts_auth.so to 'sufficient' instead of 'required' in the /etc/pam.d/rsh file. Everything else is required.
