I have a little network setup:
dsl > router > dmz set up linux server and other 3 pcs connected to the router. i have used the mail, ssh and http servers just fine, but i cant seem to have much luck with proftpd or wu-ftpd. When I try to access the ftp site from an outside computer using the hostname that resolves to my static DSL ip, it goes to the ftp server but it times out if its set as PASV or it's just very slow if it's set up as PORT. other people from outside my network cant access the ftp site at all. what could be the problem? i have used proftpd before at a different network i had and ran flawlessly!
