Hi,
I'm could not find my monitor name in the list of monitors when I did the installation of RH8. Now when I restart it cant start the xserver. In RH7 you could start Xconfiguration but i cant find this command in RH8. How can I reconfigure my monitor?

Try redhat-config-xfree86 You will need the horizontal and vertical sync ranges of your monitor to set it up.

use xf86config command being in the root user. It asks many options regarding all the devices. The problem you are facing is not of the monitor. But its the video card. Most of the Intel 845 video cards doesn't support the more than 800*600 resolutions. So see the manaul of the monitor and enter the horizontal sync and the vertical sync manually. If it still give problems then try with the vesa driver for your video card. with more than 8MB of shared memory. This may work for you.
