Hi, I am trying to setup Ubuntu Linux on my laptop, but when I run the alternitive setup CD (the liveCD version did not work) and try to resize the partition on my hard drive, it tells me there is not enough free space to complete the install and that the resize was not successful. No matter what I type to resize the partition it tells me the same thing. I have a 37 Gb hard drive with about 11.7 Gb used up. The NTFS partition for Windows takes up the entire drive. I want to be able to dual boot between Linux and Windows XP.

I got it fixed. The system logs said that the NTFS journal failed to load, and to shutdown Windows. I always Hibernate Windows because of the time it takes to load, so I loaded Windows and shut it down.
