Boot your system using either Windows 95/98 floppy disk and at the A:> prompt, type
fdisk /mbr

You mention about windows...this is a linux forum!=o)
You could make sure that there is a valid entry in lilo.conf for a windoze boot and make that the default, but your best bet is to use a 9x boot floppy and fdisk /mbr....its been said many a time on this forum.

If you're dual booting, fdisk /mbr should do the trick, but becareful. If your windows is too much to lose, I suggest using Partition Magic to move it to a secondary hhd. Although it is known that PM has trouble with Linux Ext3 partition.

it is alredy on a second hdd, all i want is to remove grub or replace it with a windows loader or summat.
