Have Satilitte model A135-54467 with Toshiba\Vista OS. Want to Zero the HDD and install Linux. Have tried partition Magic and Killdisk in effort. Neither program will load! Tried to push it out with a linux distro but no luck. It's evident no DOS based program will work nor a Linux overwrite What is the solution a new HDD? Thanks in advance.

since you are willing to lose vista anyway, why not try creating a partition for linux and dual booting.

Use the parted application to destroy the partition. You may also need to use a DOS boot disk and run fdisk /mbr at the prompt. The rescue cd is your best bet though.
