You can use the dos fdisk utility to clear out your hard drive.

1. Go to a computer that currently has windows running on it.
2. Insert a blank floppy disk, and click on start >> settings >> control panel >> add remove programs

3. Select the Startup disk tab and click Create disk.

4. After this is done put that disk on the linux computer, reboot and when it comes up type "fdisk" and partition your drive and format the drive using format C:

5. you can also do a fdisk /mbr to clear out the boot record.

If need more help, feel free to e-mail me.

Hi I was wondering if you had information on reformating your hard drive after an XP installation, due to my WinME startup disk giving me a parameter failure notice, when I type "a:format:c"
