Using this server as an IPS mail server. Having a problem with the mail service stopping, which usally requires a reboot of the server. Any ideas where to look first providing the hardware is good?

btw, i have never heard you need to reboot a server to stop a service.
kill -9 `pidof mailservice` should be enough.

I think he's saying its stopping and so he's rebooting... which still should never need to be done.

If the service is just up and stopping, it sounds like a problem with your configuration files.
