i installed linux redhat 7.1 on a novatech f1 laptop, but I cant see the login screen. The screen starts to go cloudy which doesnt seem good for my lcd display. Have I used the wrong frequencies for the refresh rate ( I used 800 by 600 16 bit colour) and if so how do I find out the correct ones?

I had the similar prob with my laptop and I fixed it with vga=791. Google search will help you. You need to add vga=791 line in /etc/lilo.conf and run lilo to activate that. For that you need to go to text mode first then do all these before you bring the graphical mode.

Do I have to run lilo every time I login? When installing I can tell it do use text mode when loading, but what command will log me in to the grapical area?
