I tried installing Red Hat 7.3 on my Windows XP box. My plan was to delete one of my unused Windows partions and use the newly created free space for Linux. When the installer prompted me to choose a partitioning strategy, I chose manual partitioning with Disk Druid. A message box appeared on the screen telling me that there were inconsistencies in the partition table and that in order to fix this all data on the disk would be lost. I chose not to fix it. Another message box appeared telling me that the partition table cannot be read. The installer then quit and restarted my computer. Why can't Linux read my partition table? Everything seems okay under Windows. Is there any way I can fix this without destroying my files?

Disk druid is the tool I used when I lost a whole 40GB drive.

After it I would always try to use (the linux version of) fdisk. Newer installations of RH give you this option. I don't understand anyway why you want to install RH 7.3. You can download newer versions.
