Hello
I recently installed a Nvidia Linux driver for my "Riva TNT2 Model 64" so I can run opengl programs. The problem is after I installed the driver, did the configurations. some of my programs have stop working like XMMS and Open Office. I click on them and ran them from a terminal but they just imediate close on me. Some people have told me to try some of these commands
"tail /var/log/messages"
to see if anything pops up
nothing except that when i ran like XMMS
it says Segmentation Fault
and another command was
"dmesg"
which also didnt give me any info.
So does anyone know how to resolve this problem??Thanks
Doug

Does this problem go away when you use the open source "nv" driver instead of the Nvidia binary "nvidia" driver that you have installed?
Just undo the things you did when you installed the nvidia module, and see if it works correctly. If it does then its probably a bug in the module.

I'm not sure if this applies here but you can try.
in /etc/X11/xXF86/XF86Config-4, change the name of the driver from nv to nvidia and to get it to load the driver at boot use XFdrake.
This could be a solution or it could be that it worked only in the distro i use. (Mandrake 9.2)Cheers!

Which version of the Nvidia drivers did you use.
I was on thier site the other day because I was having problems with my Fedora Nvidia driver setup. I remember that there was one particular version of thier drivers that would crash and give a seg fault on RH 9 .
I would head over to nvidia.com and do some research.
Good Luck
Ron
