Hello all, Recently i have downloaded the 3 RH9 installation disks.
======================================
Computer specs:
Sony Vaio Pcv-J200 900* mhz
sis 630 display adapter
Sony hmd-a200* Trinitron monitor
40 gig HD - Divided into 2 partitions
Samsung CDRW/DVD SM-352b Combo drive
======================================

On my first attemt at setup Basically it got to that part where it was about to boot into the gui instalation.

Detected mouse fine
Detected display adapter fine
Everything fine

Then it attemted to run x-server or something
And the monitor completley blanked out.

Now i know the gui was there but the monitor wasnt displaying it because i replaced the monitor with abother one and it was flickering the gui once in awhile.

The vga card is integrated into the mother board so i placed an old trident 9440 linear accelerated for pci *whew* into one of the pci slots. Connected the monitor to that card and....

Once again i went through instalation.
Was able to boot into the gui installation.
Everything seemed to be going smoothly.
The OS was installing properly and then it tried to install the Kernel Pcmcia-cs-3.1.31-13 or something and it gave me a fatal error...;(

Please someone help, i want to get away from the crappy unstable windows enviroment!!

Any help is appreciated, and well remembered.
and if you cant help thanks for youre time :)

It sounds like you graphics cards are configured correctly but your monitor isn't. Did it have your make and model when installing? If not try something like a generic 1024x768 SVGA monitor and see if that works.

thanks for the reply :)
The monitor worked fine when it was running through the trident 9440.
Everything displayed corectly, The monitor, vga everything.
The problem i think is actually the integrated vga. My vaio is basicall y one big computerchip of a motherboard.
Everything is built into the thing, graphics sound vga etc...
Id probably be able to finish the installation through the inferior trident 4400 but id still get the error message and the color just wouldnt be right.
Thankyou for your assistance :)
