hmmm... well when you toss in the first cd and boot to it, you should get a screen prompting you to test the installation media. did you give that a shot first to be sure that the problem is with the cd's?

Yea, turn your computer off with the first RH disk in the drive, then turn it on.... It won't boot from Windows.... Also make sure your BIOS is set to boot from the Cd-rom before the hard disk... When you turn your computer on, it should say "press esc, F2 or something to enter setup" Press it repeatedly during that splash screen. Then make sure your boot order is correct... If none of that worked then you burned it too fast or it just didn't burn right... Hope you still have the image files... Try again at a slower speed.

Maybe jong is right... you didn't burn right.. did you burn the image or the iso file???

try burning it with NERO and open file menu
(don't use wizard) and select "burn image" and browse your iso file..

Good Luck.

Did you also check the MD5sums before
burning...in case the download became
corrupt?

Hi,
Thanks for your responce, you see the problem is that. after downloading this iso files ,first I burned them with Nero burner without Extracting them (with another software),it didnt work. then I went back to these downloaded iso files and opened them with one image extracting software which I got from the internet and extracted the images, after that I opened them again with Nero burner and burned them. at the end non of them was succesfull in installation.
During installation, after succesfully starting with boot diskette, along the line I will be asked to insert linux cd in the cd rom drive and when I do that and hit enter it will show a message saying: '...the linux cd was not found in your cd rom drive'
Again with Nero burner when I select burn image (not copy)it does not transfer these iso file to the cd but prompts me for a location in my computer to save them. I tried all means to let it transfer these iso file at once to my cd (trying all options in the Nero burner menu)but it does not. so what I do is to first save them somewher in my system and come back later to burn them (this time around not as burn image but copy). please what actually can I do ? where do you think this problems is from? are you familiar with Nero burner?
As of my cd rom drive I went to the BIOS and checked it thoroughly and its in order. Even I just installed win 2000 on a seperate partition in the same system through the same cd rom drive. I used windows explorer to view these files after burning and they're all visible with it. your help will be appreciated

Are you sure that when Nero "prompts me for
a location in my computer to save them" it
isn't really asking for the location of the
ISO file to burn?

In Nero:
File > Burn Image > Browse to the ISO and
click Open
Up pops the Write CD dialogue, click on the
Info tab and it should show the image as
being 1 track and Joliet (Bootable). Select
Disc At Once as the write method and click
write.

If it then prompts you for a location, you
have the Image Recorder set as your device.
Go to:
Recorder > Choose Recorder > click on your
CDR drive and OK....then try again.

If you start trying to extract files, the
linux setup will start complaining as it
doesn't recognise the name and CD
etc....you'll have to do an install from an
alternative source (FTP, local file
etc)....but it's sooooo much easier just to
boot off the CD.
