I was wondering what the commands for xconfigurator is in redhat 9. I cant seem to get it to work. I skipped x configuration at startup so I could install my driver for my video card, which goes well. Then when I go to edit my XF86 file, its not there and when I type startx theres an error.... xinit also gives error. If I install and do x configuration at install, XF86 file is there and I can edit it and run in X. But I am not able to change anything, I.E screen resolution, and I can't exit out of X. even then when I type startx theres an error. Please help!

Hi Dave, They dropped Xconfigurator in version 8.0. You now have to use XFree86 I am not sure but I think you need to type XFree86 config . RedHat has You making the changes in the display window. That doesnt help much if you dont have X to begin with. You might try init 5 and see what happens it may lead you through configuration. The book says there is more info at www.xfree86.org . Good Luck Ron PS have you tried the display settings that are in Gnome? I see that you did get X to start. I always configure mine at install and then default the INIT to 3 to install propriatary drivers and then change it back to INIT 5
