How does redhat 8.0 utilize dual processors?
Can you set it up during installation, or do you have to download a kernal. If so can anyone tell me the proper procedure to install a kernel. Thanks in advance

The "smp" kernels are for two or more processors.
You can get the kernel by downloading it from either the RedHat Network or the RedHat ftp site ftp.redhat.com.
You have a choice of kernels based on what processor you have. These are the latest "smp" kernels for RedHat 8.0.i586: kernel-smp-2.4.18-27.8.0.i586.rpm
i686: kernel-smp-2.4.18-27.8.0.i686.rpm
Athlon: kernel-smp-2.4.18-27.8.0.athlon.rpm
Source: kernel-2.4.18-27.8.0.src.rpmi586 = Pentium CPUs
i686 = Pentium Pro, II, III, IV CPUs
Athlon = Athlon, XP, MP, Duron CPUsExample to install the Athlon kernel:
rpm -ivh kernel-smp-2.4.18-27.8.0.athlon.rpmIf you are using GRUB this will even update the boot loader by adding the option to boot either the old or new kernel.
BTW, you may have a problem getting it now because RedHat is pretty busy with everbody trying to get RedHat 9.
