RedHat 8 doesn't like me!!!

I have installed RedHat 8 several times when I try to change the configuration I get the error PERMISSION DENIED.

Are you trying to do this from a user account? Some configuration changes require you to be the root user. There are two ways to do this: 1) If you are logged in as a user type the command: su - 2) Log in as root

I log on as root. I su at the terminal but that doesn't work either. Does WinXP have any effect on this?

no XP will not effect this try loging out and then signing in as root. su should work.
