can any one tell me the steps and software required to setup a USB alcatell speedtouch modem. I have a bt broadband account.

I have red , every howto I can get my hands on , have them all printed in front of me. I think they need to be a bit more basic.

So anyone who has this modem setup, please help me out, I have the drivers the firmware and management utility, but dont seem to be getting anywhere.

I have redhat 8, will I have to rebuild the kernel in this version.

???

Pleased help a newbie, thanx in advance

I had a similar problem way back when I first got my speedtouch modem. I have written up a HOWTO that may get you going. This is designed for RedHat 7.3 but should work for RedHat 8.
Check it out at http://www.mawdryn.com/speedtouch.html
