I've been having a problem with linux hosts in my DMZ subnet. The hosts can't ping to any device other than the gateway. Other MS hosts on this subnet are able to ping to the linux boxes and to each other. Hosts outside of the subnet can ping the linux boxes.
Scenario:
I'm on the box at 10.1.1.15 and I ping the box at 10.1.1.14 with no response. I ping the gateway 10.1.1.1 and it works. I check the arp cache on 10.1.1.15 and here is what I get:[root@server1 root]# arp -a
? (10.1.1.14) at 00:F1:B6:04:07:22 [ether] on eth0
? (10.1.1.1) at 00:F1:B6:04:07:22 [ether] on eth0
[root@ns1 root]#It shows both the gateway (10.1.1.1) and 10.1.1.14 with the same MAC address. Why is this? These are two distinct devices.
If I delete the ARP entry for 10.1.1.14 and add it back with the correct MAC address then I am able to ping from 10.1.1.15 to 10.1.1.14 successfully.
Can anyone shed some light on this for me?
Thanks in advance,
Fred

Looks like a bug.
Do a google search on the issue and if
nothing turns up you will want to mail a bug report in to the driver maintainer.
That will be in the driver source. In the meantime you could arp -s the
correct info and readjust if necessary with a cron job that checks the results of
a ping test.
