RedHat 7.2 eth0 overruns

Comment:
I'm trying to configure an HP LPr server and can't seem to get the network running. When I do an ifconfig, eth0 is showing only transmitted packets and none received. Additionally, the number of overruns matches the number of transmitted packets.
What are overruns? What can I do next to troubleshoot this?
(Yep, you guessed it... I'm a newbie)
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Fred

Overruns are caused when your FIFO buffers fill up because they can't send data fast enough. It is difficult to troubleshoot this without more information. It appears that you are sending packets out but I don'think they are going anywhere. Are you sure that your IP and subnet are set correctly? Do you have link beat on the Nic card and on the hub/switch?

Hi Rich,
Yes, I double checked the IP settings for the subnet and they are correct. I also have a link light showing on the NIC. Is it possible that it could be a speed/duplex mismatch between the box and the switch? How can I see these settings in RedHat 7.2? Or do you possibly have another idea I could test out?
