I'm trying to install RH 6.1 on my Packard Bell. I'd previously run 6.0 on the PB. Now, however, when I boot from the RH install disk, the GUI interface is mostly unreadable (blurry, most options blocked out by black bars). I tried installing without the GUI interface in order to adjust the monitor settings but had no luck. In short: HELP! Thanks!

Did X work under 6.0? If it did, then you can use the same settings under 6.1. As for installing w/out gui there is a text mode installation option, read the docs on the cd. I think you just type "text" at the lilo prompt on the install boot. This is how I had to do it because RH insisted I had a ps/2 mouse when in fact it was serial. Also helpful would be the video card name (chipset) and monitor type. Like I said, If it worked in 6.0, then there should be no problem.

It turns out that Redhat 6.1 had problems with the GUI interface,Gets corrupted on occasion, but the new 6.2 should be fine. I encountered a similar problem when installing, but 6.2 worked fine for me. -Maybe check it out- Hope it works for ya.
