I have Red Hat 8 installed. Is it worth downgrading? Lets say to Red Hat 5? Will my system breeze through? Also, if I do downgrade, will most latest versions for Red Hat Linux still run or will they refuse to? I am a newbee to Linux but when I found out the RHL,Mandrake and others actually likes a batter system then Win 98 requires I have goten discouraged with the whole Linux thing.

have found that RedHat7.3 runs fine with 512 mb of RAM on a AMD athlon 1.0 CPU . But some of the more graphical games load the 1.0 cpu to the max and crawl along. But for basic computing it runs fine

hi!
I don't recommend you downgrade unless you've got an old computer. You can download RHL 6.2 or later only from RH's server.
About RH vs Mandrake. I guess the best linus distros are Red Hat Linux, Debian and finally Slackware. Red Hat is very easy to install on there are lots of nice docs at their website.
