I have Red Hat 8 installed. Is it worth downgrading? Lets say to Red Hat 5? Will my system breeze through? Also, if I do downgrade, will most latest versions for Red Hat Linux still run or will they refuse to? I am a newbee to Linux but when I found out the RHL,Mandrake and others actually likes a batter system then Win 98 requires I have goten discouraged with the whole Linux thing.

have found that RedHat7.3 runs fine with 512 mb of RAM on a AMD athlon 1.0 CPU . But some of the more graphical games load the 1.0 cpu to the max and crawl along. But for basic computing it runs fine

hi! I don't recommend you downgrade unless you've got an old computer. You can download RHL 6.2 or later only from RH's server. About RH vs Mandrake. I guess the best linus distros are Red Hat Linux, Debian and finally Slackware. Red Hat is very easy to install on there are lots of nice docs at their website. "Peace, love and Linux"
