Hi all,
I'm a newbie to Linux and hopefully someone's seen my problem before:
Installing RH on an old P233 w/ an old, old, OLD #9 2MB PCI video card. I boot from disk 1 of the RH discs and installation seems to go okay until I get the following message:
RuntimeError: Cannot open display
Install exited abnormallyAfter that, the CD ejects and I'm told I can reboot, etc.
The video card (which I'm thinking is the issue) is seen as a generic S3 video card. The monitor type (another possbility) is not known by Anaconda.
Any ideas as to what I should try next? Responses can go to gabe.gador@cox.net if preferred.
Thanks,
Gabe

What version of Red Hat? Your video card might not be able to handle the graphical install on the newer versions of Red Hat. You should try and do a text based install, its not any more difficult.

I'm installing RH 7.2; the video card is actually a transfer from a system previously running RH 7.2, so I'm somewhat perplexed. But I'll try the text based install as you suggested. Any other suggestions?

I had the same sort of problem installing to a P133 with an old card that I knew nothing about. Try to install text base or low resolution. That worked for me!:)
