I am trying to install Red Hat Linux 8 on my computer and it does everything fine until it gets to formatting the hard drive and which point it freezes. I have a 20 gb Maxtor 531DX hard drive and it's running on a matsonic 7308e motherboard. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks.

Have you tried deleting all partitions before installing?

Yes, I have totally deleted all partitions on the hard drive and started fresh. But it still freezes at the same spot, when it's trying to format the hard drive.

Have you got something like partition magic? If you do, partition AND format the drive with that and then during setup, select the partitions but choose NOT to format them. This usually gets me around this problem (which I have experienced a couple of times myself).
