Red hat 8.0 install hangs

Red hat 8.0 install hangs during installation on my AMD-K6-450MHz but is successful on my pII-266MHz. Obviously, I would prefer to use the faster K6 computer. I has hung up on me at approximately the same place three times in succession - at the time that it is trying to copy the image to the hard drive. The very AMD-K6 runs W98 without a problem. Any advice chaps?
