Comment:
I downloaded the 98 Mb Star Office file and I go to the terminal and type the file. And per the instructions the file should start to install. I'm a big Newbie to Linux I have my MCSE but I like what Red Hat is starting to do Linux is fune:) The file is called so-5_2-ga-bin-linux-en.bin. Is a *.bin file like a *.exe file in windows. Help me install Star Office 5.2 please. Thanks in Advanced.

I remember installing star office just by clicking on the dowsloaded package -- .rpm version. I am using a redhat derivative, manddrake. it works fine. of course there is a more fancy way to install an rpm pack using terminal command like: rpm options filename.rpm.

When I type the chmode command I get bash: chmode: command not found. And I wish this was a RPM package my life would be alittle easier right now. Any more suggestions for this *.bin file?? Please help. I would love to try out this star office.
thanks lodogg
