Red Hat 5.2/6.2 and AHA-152x Install Problem

Comment:
I tried installing Red Hat 5.2 and 6.2 and am having problems getting the kernel to see my SCSI devices. I have an AHA-1520A host adapter and a Toshiba 5401-TA SCSI CD-ROM. When I boot with 6.2 and select a SCSI CD-ROM install option, I use the AHA-152x host adapter. The kernel looks to access the CD-ROM as the light flashes; however, I receive a kernel message: "Aiee, killing interrupt handler - SCSI host 0 reset (pid 0) timed out again".
With 5.2, I don't receive the kernel dump but I can't get past the SCSI host adapter screen. I am using the aha152x=0x340,11,7,1 command line option (my card defaults and also what NT 4.0 sees).

Bonjour Catherine: to install the 1542 device driver you can do this manually first: 1) become superuser. 2) modprobe -k aha1542 3) mount your device as a read only, iso9660 filesystem.
Note that modprobe is in /sbin
To include this in your startup, so the CD-ROM is always there: 1) add the above command in your boot script (I forgot the file name for Red Hat), probably in /sbin/init.d/boot.local for SUSE. 2) Update the file /etc/fstab for the CDROM If you use KDE make the device visible by creating an icon to the desktop. (Right click the scree to get started). Good luck.
