Subject: Rebooting windows in wine? |
Comment: I installed office 2000 on a machine running debian, kde3, and wine. Word, and excel work perfectly, but outlook tells me i need to install internet explorer... when i try, i get a message saying another installation is not yet completed and I need to restart windows to continue. How do I restart windows, when there is no windows?

Reply: (edit)As far as I know, installing IE with wine is still one of the great mysteries of the world. And you can't reboot what doesn't exist. You aren't going to have much luck, your best bet for getting all that to work would be to setup vmware and install windows there.

Reply: (edit)You want to use WINE for Outlook?! I wonder if WINE supports Windows viruses yet... Take a look at Evolution, I'm sure it has everything you like about Outlook, but without the trouble.

Reply: (edit)When a program wants you to restart windows to complete the setup it creates a file called WININIT.INI in \windows, you might want to check the contents of the file to see if there is anything special you need to do, after that you can just delete it and the install should go through.
