read only file system /home???

hi
i have mandrake 7.1 running and suddenly when i try to adduser -i get a massege "read only file system" now i can't do nothing at /home directory. though before i could.
i tried to mount -rw /home but it sais "..already mounted"
hope to solve it without reinstalling linux

Use the command umount first to unmount it then mount it with the option -rw.

To make sure it's mounted every time as read/write edit the file /etc/fstab and make sure the option rw is included in the line that mounts the /home partition.
