How did you burn the CD? When you say you can see the icon, do you mean for the files on the CD? Does it show as being mounted when you run df? Are you possibly mounting the CD as root and trying to browse the contents as a regular user?

I burnt the cd using Nero Burning Rom 6.0 in windows, i mounted the cd-rom as root nd i am accessing as root, it shows me the icon on the desktop but does not show me the contents of the cd this means that the cd-rom is mounted. But yes the files were hidden on the cd and i had to click show hidden files as well option (in windows to read) so could this be the problem and is there a solution then.

If you do a #ls -al do you see the files? Also check #mount and make sure it is properly mounted. i have hard of a problem where users need to umount and thn manually run mount so could try that also.
